Playa Blanca, Dominican Republic
I have contemplated whether or not I wanted to start documenting my travels (national and international). I have decided to make it a priority to share my adventures, both big and small, with you!
A friend prompted this impromptu trip to the Dominican Republic. By the way, this is the first international trip I have ever taken - and it was nothing short of an adventure.
Here are five things that I loved about my first experience in the Dominican Republic.
-
- Drink Point
We spent a lot of time asking people in Punta Cana where all the fun was. Mind you, we visited the Dominican Republic at a time when travel was sparse to their resorts (and rightfully so). But, that wasn't going to stop us from having an adventure! A local suggested that we head to a night club called Drink Point. There was a mix of travelers and locals, which made the atmosphere exciting - my legs were burning the next day! I highly recommend that if you are interested in having a good time, Drink Point should be a nightlife destination in your itinerary.
- Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca was one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in such a long time - and the ceviche was delicious! As a travel noob, I was in awe of the hip-deep, warm, and clear water. The staff was delightful, and the scenery was truly unbelievable. Playa Blanca is another recommendation if you want to relax and enjoy a few passionfruit margaritas in the water.
- Coco Bongo in Bávaro!
The running joke is that I spent most of my time in the venue, exclaiming how the experience was A-MAZE-IN. Coco Bongo is another venue that was well worth the money. We received unlimited drinks - margarita, please - and got to experience a club, acrobat show, and concert, all-in-one. It was such a great time, and I was excited to have attended our last night.
- Airbnb
If you are skeptical about staying in a resort, I would recommend getting an Airbnb. Our stay was great, and our host was extremely responsive and helpful. We had access to a pool, the infamous panini maker, and a beautifully decorated and quiet apartment. If you are interested in staying with this host for your next trip, click here.
- El Burrito
I didn't speak too much about the food just because most of our time was spent at Wendy's. But, El Burrito was one of the best (and most inexpensive) restaurants of our trip. The tacos and burritos were fuego, and the prices for drinks were reasonable. We never felt like we were taken advantage of, and the staff was amicable.
- Drink Point
I hope you consider traveling to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Despite some challenges, the trip was one of the best experiences I had in 2019. I look forward to my next trip this year!
Feel free to share any suggestions and experiences of your own, and if you'd like, I'd love to hear about any idea you may have for my next piece of travel!
